Birdman
2010
oil on canva
85 x 68cm
The final recycling of the five discarded canvases resulted in this painting, Birdman.
For the purposes of this catalogue I have consciously shied away from analysis, as I am interested as to how others interpret their meaning, but when I read this painting I see: The sadness in the expression, the angry tension in the hands, the skinny human legs and the cloak-like wings wrapping around, concealing and protecting something. That is what I see.
And like these paintings are all part of a singular narrative, this painting leads to the next one, Need.
